September 28, 1929: Joe Bradford hits three hat-tricks in eight days. The first for Birmingham v Newcastle on the Saturday, then three for the Football League v Irish League in midweek and three more for Birmingham v Bradford City the following Saturday. September 29, 1979:Lee Holmes helps Brentford beat Southend, throws on a tracksuit over his kit and jumps on a friend’s motorcycle at 4.45pm. At 5.30 he is married in Barking registry office. September 30,1946: Two days after playing in the Northern Ireland side that loses 7-2 to England John Carey and Bill Gorman are in the Republic of Ireland side that loses 1-0… to England! September 30, 1987: Rangers beat Dynamo Kiev 2-0 after legally narrowing the pitch the evening after the Russian club practised on it. In a game against Fulham he scores an own goal, then gives away a penalty, when his side were later awarded a penalty he takes it and sends it straight into the keeper’s hands!
