TAYLOR’S WEMBLEY MISSION
WALSALL have never played at Wembley Stadium, but defender Andy Taylor is confident he can make amends for his last appearance at the national stadium by helping the Saddlers seize a rare opportunity this season.
The left-back, 28, came on for Sheffield United after 120 minutes of the 2012 League One play-off final against Huddersfield, only to miss his spot-kick as the Blades lost 8-7 on penalties.
Yet victory over Tranmere in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy area semi-final on Tuesday would put Walsall just two games away from a historic fixture at the home of football .
“It’s a chance to play at Wembley and in your career you don’t get many chances to do that,” he said. “Win one game against Tranmere and all of a sudden you’re in the area final. If you don’t take it seriously, then you should do – and we are.”
