COOPER WIN NOT ALL GOOD

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

MARK Cooper may have won the League One manager of the month award, but Swindon Town defender Nathan Byrne would prefer to see his team’s accomplishments go unnoticed.

A sterling run in November saw the Robins triumph over leaders Bristol City and also record wins against fellow promotion-hopefuls Preston and Peterborough to land Cooper the award.

And with the average age of Swindon’s squad just over 23 and the starting line-up often dipping below that, 22year-old Byrne admits the team are thriving.

“We don’t want to be in the papers every week up and down the country. It’s good that we are sort of under the radar and just grinding on trying to win games,” he said.

“I think the age of the squad helps a lot. It’s not like we’ve got there or we’ve been and done it.

“We’re all striving to push on and get to the next level.”
