MICK’S TROOPS MOVE IT UP ANOTHER GEAR

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

IPSWICH heaped more misery on long-suffering Leeds with a devasting display at Portman Road.

In strikers Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick, they possess the Championship’s most deadly duo and while they have crept up into the top two, every club will be taking notice of what is going on in Suffolk.

Murphy especially is proving a revelation. He has been born again ever since Mick McCarthy signed him permanently and handed him the number nine jersey. The Republic of Ireland international looks like he could score every time he gets the ball.

While Ipswich were ruthless, Leeds were toothless.

They would have wanted to have done their talking on the pitch after the week started with owner Massimo Cellino being asked to resign from the club.

But after a bright start, they never recovered from Murphy’s equaliser, ultimately offering nothing in a dismal second half display.
