BYRNE SET TO MAKE HIS MARK
MIDFIELDER Mark Byrne has vowed to repay Newport in goals, after agreeing a contract extension.
The 26-year-old turned down the chance to stay with Conference leaders Barnet in the summer, instead opting to pen a six-month deal to return to league football with the Exiles.
Such has been his form, manager Justin Edinburgh offered Byrne a fresh 18month contract this week.
Byrne said: “There is a lot of competition and Yan Klukowski, in particular, has shown his quality.
“He’s a goalscorer and that is the one thing I want to improve. I want to add more goals to my game and help us stay in the top seven.”
