AINSWORTH WORKING BUDGET WONDERS
GARETH Ainsworth was narrowly beaten to November’s Manager of the Month award by Phil Brown, but it’s the Wycombe boss who can boast the upper hand after a convincing victory between the two sides.
The win will mean more than just the three points for Ainsworth, whose side continue to prove the doubters wrong after their increasingly impressive start to the season.
Having used just 18 players – the fewest by any of the 72 League clubs – Wycombe’s tight budget is still not displaying any cracks after 11 goals in three consecutive league wins.
The busy Christmas period will be a further test for one of the league’s smallest squads, but a rare treat of naming all seven subs will give the Chairboys hope they can still be top of the pile come 2015.
A poor performance from Southend indicates a blip rather than the start of a slump, but the tough fixtures don’t let up as they face secondplace Burton next up.
