The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO - By David John

HAVING a laugh in the Championship with his old youth team pals is behind the outstanding form that has made Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt the Football League’s young player of the month for November.

The 19-year-old scored three stunning goals and made two assists for Neil Redfearn’s side last month to take the coveted accolade.

Mowatt, who joined the Elland Road outfit as a nineyear-old having previously attended one of their development centres, said:“This season I think I have stepped it up from last year and I’ve done well.

“There are a few lads from the academy in the first team now and these are my mates away from football, so to be celebrating goals and having fun with them on the pitch is just brilliant.”

The England U20 international’s old youth team boss, and now first-team gaffer, Redfearn added:“The scope of what is in front of him is immeasurable. He has the world at his feet and is an outstanding young player.”
