The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO -

QUALITY goalkeeping was arguably the difference as Luton extended their advantage in League Two over Newport who would’ve gone level on points with John Still’s men with a victory.

Mark Tyler made vital stops either side of halftime to deny Shaun Jeffers and Chris Zebroski but County’s Jamie Stephens dropped a clanger after the interval to gift Luton a vital second goal.

However, both sides will feel they have the form and the squad strength to maintain their promotion charges, even if Newport’s nine-game unbeaten run came to an end.

The Hatters will feel positive after they shrugged off a spanking at Morecambe to record back-to-back home victories over Bury and Newport as they look to make an impact in the league and the FA Cup.

Newport will now be keen to ensure they don’t suffer a repeat of last term when their campaign fell apart after the Christmas period.
