GONE are the days of autograph books and programmes – one in three football fans now want a selfie with a footballer!

Phone company HTC polled 4,000 European football fans and research has shown that 64 per cent of fans now want to keep a digital reminder of their match day experience, with videos of the crowd and photographs with friends a popular choice.

And it’s not just kept on your own electronic device either with over three-quarters of fans sharing their digital memento via social media such as Facebook, twitter and Instagram.

It looks like it’s not going to stop any time soon either with a fifth of fans wanting a 3D personalised video message from a player by 2025.

So, next time you’re sitting next to someone who is always taking pictures, just remember that you’re the one in the minority!
