OWLS TO THAI UP PREMIER PLACE
OUTGOING Sheffield Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric says the Owls are Premier League-bound under their new Thai owners.
Seafood magnate Dejphon Chansiri led a consortium which has bought a 100 per cent stake in the Yorkshire club – a deal worth £30m.
And Mandaric, who will step down once Football League ratification is confirmed, believes the future is bright at Hillsborough.
“I think our supporters will be happy,” said Mandaric. “Their aim is very simple. They want to take the club into the Premier League and that’s what convinced me to make the deal.
“I promised that when I left I would have secured the club’s financial future and I can look the fans in the eye and say I have done that.”
Chansiri, whose family owns Thai Union Frozen Group, said: “I am very excited at the prospect of taking over control from Milan.
“I believe this club has huge potential and I can assure all our supporters that I will be working extremely hard to bring the success that our supporters so desperately crave.”
