IT was not an easy start to life on the south coast for Chris O’Grady, but Brighton manager Chris Hughton insists the striker still has plenty to offer.

O’Grady had a spell on loan at Sheffield United earlier this season after failing to score in 11 Albion appearances following his summer move from Barnsley.

However, he was recalled at the end of December once Hughton took over from Sami Hyypia and had scored two goals in six games coming into the weekend.

The 29-year-old forward netted in last Sunday’s exciting 3-2 home defeat against FA Cup holders Arsenal.

“There has been a bit of speculation about Chris,” admitted Hughton.

“But I am delighted with what I have seen from him and, certainly, he will not be going anywhere.

“I can’t speak about earlier in the season. I can only judge him on what I see and he has done excellently for himself and the team.”
