UNITED LOOK TO CUT OFF ‘CUP SIDE’ TAG

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE ONE -

SHEFFIELD United will be hard-pressed to shake off their tag as a ‘cup team’ due to their exploits in both the FA Cup and League Cup over the course of this season.

However, Blades chief Nigel Clough knows that the bread and butter must be League One.

Clough’s primary aim is to deliver second tier football back to Bramall Lane for the first time in five seasons.

Results like the one achieved against the league leaders will go some way to help ensuring that.

United lacked any energy or ideas first half but the introduction of Jamie Murphy gave them a boost and the Scot notched both goals as Clough’s side secured three huge points.

As for Swindon, Mark Cooper will hope this result is merely a blip.

February hands them a clutch of fixtures against sides battling to avoid relegation that could prove a boost.

If Cooper’s men can maintain their recent form then it should set them up nicely.
