Jeff’s lingering Hart-ache...

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE ONE -

SKY presenter Jeff Stelling has revealed the on-screen torment he goes through thanks to his beloved Hartlepool’s form – and a mischievous Soccer Saturday colleague.

Stelling put his team’s troubles in the Football League’s basement to one side this week to give his support to Prostate Cancer UK’s new Men United drive.

And he revealed: “A few weeks ago the bottom of League Two stayed on screen for quite some time. It was an absolute disgrace and I shall name our director Karen Wilmington who refused to take it off.

“Karen rules the place and she refused to let our graphics people move on to the next table. It was 20 or 30 seconds but felt about 20 or 30 minutes!”

Stelling, right, visited the ‘Men United Arms’ in South London, the first of many pubs the Football League’s partner charity will take over this year. In an interview to support the charity, Stelling discusses the banter behind the scenes with Phil Thompson, Charlie Nicholas and Paul Merson.

“It’s part of the fun,” he adds. “Football is entertainment after all.”
