Supporters’ talk flops
PLAYERS often talk about the effect of the 12th man in the stands, so Plymouth Argyle players should have had no excuses yesterday after supporters gave the pre-match team talk!
The Pilgrims embarked on the 387-mile trip to basement side Hartlepool – the longest trip in English football – in the early hours of Saturday and became the first football team to crowd source their team talk.
In conjunction with mobile phone network Three, support- ers were asked to send their inspirational words to the club’s twitter account, with the best read to the players before kickoff at Victoria Park.
Part of the prose included: “Pride, passion and belief. Each and every one of you has the chance to become a legend in this club’s history, starting today. The big push for promotion begins NOW. Get out there, play with some guts and get us the result we all deserve.”
