TOM PROVES DOUBTERS WRONG IN STYLE

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

THERE are plenty of people who are not quite convinced about all the hype surrounding Tom Ince, but there weren’t many of those inside the iPro Stadium yesterday.

It’s fair to say that Ince’s career has become a little nomadic since leaving Blackpool just over a year ago.

The son of former England captain Paul has not quite cut it in the Premier League at Crystal Palace and Hull City – not yet at least – while a loan spell at Derby’s East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest before Christmas was equally unconvincing.

But maybe Steve McClaren is the man to finally bring out the best in Ince on a regular basis. The Derby head coach was purring after the game about the winger’s instant contribution and his free kick opener was certainly worthy of another watch on the big screen.

Ince will protest that he needs a run of games to show his true quality and it will be difficult for McClaren to leave him out after this showing.
