WI­GAN have signed South Korea in­ter­na­tional Kim Bo Kyung – de­spite manager Malky Mackay al­legedly racially abus­ing him while the pair were at Cardiff City.

The 25-year-old at­tack­ing mid­fielder joins un­til the end of the sea­son af­ter hav­ing his Cardiff con­tract ter­mi­nated by mu­tual con­sent on Jan­uary 24.

Mackay is cur­rently sub­ject of a Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion in­ves­ti­ga­tion, ac­cused of ex­chang­ing a se­ries of racist, sex­ist and ho­mo­pho­bic text mes­sages with Iain Moody, Cardiff’s for­mer head of re­cruit­ment.

But Kim said: “I am very happy to be join­ing up with the gaffer again. I re­ally en­joyed work­ing with him in the past and he helped me so much in my ca­reer.

“He gave me the chance to ful­fil my dream of play­ing in Eng­land and I am now look­ing for­ward so much to work­ing with him again.

“Since be­com­ing a free agent, I had var­i­ous of­fers but when the chance came to be with the gaffer again at Wi­gan, this re­ally was the only place I wanted to come.”

Mackay was sacked by Cardiff’s Malaysian owner Vin­cent Tan in De­cem­ber 2013 be­fore tak­ing the job at Wi­gan last Novem­ber.

Kim has won 30 caps for South Korea.
