York on their bikes for David

The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO -

FOOTBALL rivalry will be put to one side in two weeks as 12 York fans are set to cycle the 150 miles for City’s clash with Northampton.

Cobblers fan David Henderson died following a heart attack outside Sixfields after the two teams met last season and the cycle is all to raise money for British Heart Foundation.

Dan Waterworth and friends are set to make the trip from Bootham Crescent to Sixfields for the match on February 21, leaving two days before kick-off.

And after witnessing the tragedy in January last year, Waterworth was inspired to complete the challenge.

He said: “The terrible scenes took place in front of hundreds of fans that were walking away from the stadium and fans from both teams were attempting to save David’s life.

“Myself and 11 other York fans decided, after witnessing the sad passing of David, that we would complete a cycle to Northampton when the two sides meet this season.”
