MISSED OPPORTUNITY FOR HOWE’S BOYS

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

THE Cherries may be back on top of the table but this will feel like two points dropped for the home side.

After Yann Kermorgant’s early opener Eddie Howe’s men dominated possession and created enough chances to win two games.

Bournemouth scored the first goal for the 16th time this season but on too many occasions they have squandered the lead.

Howe deserves credit for the way he sends them out to play slick, attacking footballer, with the full backs bombing on but that does leave them open on the counter attack.

James Vaughan took full advantage of that with a predatory strike befitting his Premier League background but even after conceding the south coast side should have stolen the points.

Smithies was brilliant in the Huddersfield goal but Bournemouth were guilty of overplaying and did not display the ruthless streak they may need to hold off Derby and Boro.
