DARREN Bent’s resurgence at Derby is another example of the excellent job Steve McClaren is doing at the iPro.

People talk about his work with young players like Will Hughes and Jordan Ibe, who have both benefited hugely from the former England manager’s coaching.

But it doesn’t matter whether you’re 21 or 31 – having a good coach who understands your strengths and believes in your ability is vital.

Darren had undoubtedly lost his way in recent years. So had young Tom Ince, another player who is flourishing with the Rams.

But Steve and his coaching staff have put the pair of them in a team that creates lots of chances, plays good football, and now they’re showing us exactly what they’re about. He’s succeeded where others failed and that’s why he’s so highly regarded.
