Fe­bru­ary 14, 1972: An Aus­tralian mil­lion­aire wanted to buy Here­ford United and move it lock, stock and bar­rel to Australia. Fe­bru­ary 15, 1992: Ar­se­nal and Sh­effield Wed­nes­day were drawing 1-1 with 20 min­utes to go but the score ended 71 to the Gun­ners, who scored six times in 18 min­utes. Fe­bru­ary 16, 1982: Ex­eter City’s first team were sent en bloc to play Mill­wall’s re­serves af­ter los­ing 5-1 to the Lon­don side’s first team. They re­turned smart­ing from a 1-0 de­feat by the Li­ons’ sec­ond eleven. Fe­bru­ary 17, 1940: Ar­se­nal hit the sil­ver screen with the first air­ing of ‘The Ar­se­nal Sta­dium Mys­tery’. Manager Ge­orge Al­li­son and sev­eral of the play­ers ap­peared in the film. Fe­bru­ary 18, 1987: Tony Adams be­comes the first player to be capped by Eng­land (v Spain) to be born since Eng­land won the world cup. Fe­bru­ary 19, 1880: Sh­effield FC are elim­i­nated from the FA Cup af­ter re­fus­ing to play ex­tra-time af­ter drawing 2-2 with Not­ting­ham For­est. Fe­bru­ary 20, 1922: Billy Poyntz scores a hat­trick for Leeds v Le­ices­ter in the af­ter­noon. In the morn­ing he got mar­ried!
