DEAN’S MISSION TO HELP McLEOD
IZALE McLeod can fire his way into the Championship, according to interim Crawley boss Dean Saunders – even though the Red Devils are currently battling against the drop to League Two.
McLeod, 30, has been a consistent menace for Crawley this season, his hat-trick against Barnsley last week taking his tally to 14 for the season.
And former Wales front man Saunders believes his star striker will likely head to greener pastures if his form in front of goal continues – allied to hard graft.
“I said to him ‘get 20 this season and you’ll go up a league’, but he’s got to do the other side, too,” he said.
“When people come and watch you and pay a transfer fee for you, they are looking at all the other things – your hold-up play, your brain and setting goals up for other people.
“He has to do all that and get the goals if he wants to go up a league. He can play higher up, it’s still not too late for him. He has bumped into me and I can help him.”
