CHRIS Eagles revealed his move to Charlton would have happened last season had Bolton not dug their heels in.

The former Manchester United winger – who made a scoring debut as a sub in the impressive 3-0 victory at Wigan on Friday night – has moved to the Addicks on a deal until the end of the season after his short stint with Blackpool ended last month.

Yet had things worked out differently, Eagles could already be an established member of the Charlton squad.

“We touched base with Charlton last season, but Bolton wouldn’t let me come,” said Eagles.

The 29-year-old was released by Bolton last summer following a threeyear spell with the Trotters and joined Blackpool in November. He scored once in seven appearances for the struggling Seasiders.

Of his Charlton move, he added: “I’ve had a great feeling about being here, it’s a massive club. I’m over the moon to be here.”
