The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE ONE - By Joshua Richards

RECORD signing Jonson Clarke-Harris could still prove the man to guide Rotherham to Championship safety, according to Millers boss Steve Evans.

The 20-year-old striker was signed for £400,000 from Oldham on transfer deadline day in August, but was loaned out to League One’s MK Dons last month following a disappointing return during the first half of the season.

And having come back with just two starts under his belt at Stadium:mk, Evans insists the striker does have a future in south Yorkshire.

“We had one or two clubs on the phone to us when they knew Jonno was going to come back, but he’s come back in and I have to say he’s trained impressively well,” Evans said.

“We would be reserved to send him back out, as we still feel he has a future here. His development is here at this moment in time.

“He’s come back here with the same desire as when I signed him and what a wonderful platform in the Championship to go and play games.

“He needs to play; he’s at that stage of his development but there is no reason why he can’t play games here, we think that highly of him.”
