Fe­bru­ary 21, 1957: Bad day in Dundee. United lost 8-2 to Ber­wick Rangers while Dundee lost 6-4 at home to Mother­well. Fe­bru­ary 22, 1997: Bournemouth’s Jimmy Glass saved a penalty from Brent­ford’s Bob Tay­lor. It was the Lon­don club’s first spot-kick for eight months. Their last was also against Bournemouth when Glass saved from Tay­lor. Fe­bru­ary 23, 1976: Ket­ter­ing Town were told to re­move the logo from their shirts ad­ver­tis­ing a lo­cal tyre com­pany. Fe­bru­ary 24, 1906: Char­lie Buchan sold one of his school books, for which he was beaten, to raise money to at­tend the Ar­se­nal v Sun­der­land game. He later played for both clubs. Fe­bru­ary 24, 2004: Bournemouth’s James Hayter came on as sub v Wrex­ham and scored a hat-trick with goals in the 86th, 87th and 88th min­utes. Sadly his par­ents missed the goals as they had to catch the last ferry to the Isle of Wight. Fe­bru­ary 25, 1967: Tommy Alden, of High­gate, was struck by light­ning and killed in a match v En­field. Fe­bru­ary 27, 1943: The Victory In­ter­na­tional be­tween Eng­land and Wales was ref­er­eed by Ge­orge Reader, an ex-pro. It was the first time this had hap­pened for an in­ter­na­tional match.
