team mates

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS -

Best mate at the club? My fellow goalkeepers, Chris Lewington and James Bransgrove. We’ve got a good strong union at the club. We do all our gym work together, we train together. Those two are definitely top lads. Last to buy dinner? Sean Clohessy is definitely the tightest man, he’ll admit it himself. There’s no chance he would get dinner. The FIFA king? A couple of years ago we had a coach that had FIFA on it. Gavin Massey plays it, as do a lot of the young lads, but Drey Wright and Alex Gilbey are supposedly the best. Worst dressed? Kaspars Gorkss has just left us, but still needs to be included because he was terrible. He wore jeans that were about four inches too short for him! The dressing room DJ? Magnus Okuonghae when he was fit, but at the moment it’s Gavin Massey. He does a good job. He plays a little bit of RnB and as it gets a little bit closer towards the game there’s more upbeat house going on to get the guys in the zone. The most skilful? Sammie Szmodics, George Moncur or Gavin Massey – there are a few candidates. George is two-footed, while Sammie has probably got the best feet at the club and has a nice turn of pace as well. Late for training? Sanchez Watt. He comes in with literally a minute to spare and is definitely the last one in. We’re pretty disciplined. There are a few lads, myself included, who travel from a distance so everyone gives themselves enough time, but Sanchez is the one that tempts fate. Teacher’s pet? George Moncur has a very good relationship with the coaching staff. Sammie Szmodics and Alex Gilbey both came through the academy, so they are thought of maybe as teacher’s pets. The manager (Tony Humes) has come from being the academy manager, so a lot of the young lads started with him and there’s an affinity there. Best cook? Chris Lewington fancies himself a little bit, though I don’t know what he’s got as I’ve never had the pleasure – or displeasure. First on the dance floor? Elliott Hewitt loves a night out, he’s all over it. We all like to have a bit of a boogie and at the Christmas do it was pretty good fun. The worst tattoo? There’s a rumour going round that Jack Marriott, who we have in on loan from Ipswich, has got an awful tattoo on his back – though I haven’t seen it yet. He gets himself dressed with his back to the wall so that no-one sees it! That’s going to have to be revealed soon. These kinds of things don’t stay a secret for very long in a dressing room. Never puts his phone down? George Moncur – he’s been mentioned a few times. Texting, games, Snapchat, all that kind of thing, you name it he does it. And so does Gavin Massey. Going to make the best manager? David Fox. He’s the most experienced in the dressing room. He knows his football. We had David Wright, who retired a few months ago, he’s definitely going to go on to management and I’m sure he’ll make it at a high level.
