DAVIES DEPARTS TO THE BLADES
STRIKER Steven Davies has left Blackpool – and firstchoice keeper Joe Lewis could be on his way out, too.
Both were left out of the Seasiders’ squad for the midweek defeat to Birmingham, prompting speculation about their futures.
Davies has since joined League One side Sheffield United on loan until the end of the season, where he will link up with his former Derby boss Nigel Clough.
The 27-year-old had netted five goals this term, but boss Lee Clark admitted he wanted to move on.
“I don’t want any of my players to be unhappy and Steven felt he would like to pursue something different,” he said.
Lewis is on a season-long loan deal from Cardiff and, after selecting Elliot Parish for the 1-0 loss to Birmingham, Clark admits the 27-year-old is unlikely to remain at Bloomfield Road next season.
“I made a decision to give Elliot an opportunity; I have to see if he is part of the future here,” added Clark.“I have had conversations with Joe and I don’t think there’s a chance of doing anything permanent with him, so I have to look to the future.”
