BRETT ORMEROD FACTFILE
Born: Blackburn, 1976 (Age 38) 1995-1997 A striker, Ormerod joined Non-League Accrington Stanley after he’d been released by hometown Blackburn. Scored 32 goals in 54 appear ances which persuaded then-Division Two Blackpool to fork out £50,000. 1997-2001 Suffered a bad double leg break as the Seasiders were relegated to Division Three in the 1999-2000 season.The next year Ormerod helped the club to promotion. Scored the fourth goal at the Millennium Stadium in the 4-2 play-off final win against Leyton Orient. 2001-2006 Joined Southampton for £1.75m. Scored 13 goals in 98 appearances for the Saints and played in the FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal in 2003. 2006-2009 Moved to Preston and had loan spells at Oldham and Nottingham Forest, who finished as League One runners-up. 2009-2012 Returned to Blackpool and won promotion to the Premier League, scoring the play-off final winner against Cardiff City. When he scored in English football’s top flight, it ticked off a goal in all the top four divisions for the club. 2012-present Won the FA Trophy in his first season with Wrexham but missed out on promotion to the League when they were beaten by Newport in the play-off final. Joined Evo-Stik NPL North Padiham at the beginning of this season.
