The Football League Paper - - LEAGUE TWO -

THIS could be a huge point for Wycombe in the chase for automatic promotion at the end of the season.

They were easily second best on the day, failing to deal with the pace and power of Southend for most of an entertaining game.

But Gareth Ainsworth’s side came away with a point, showing the deter- mination needed in the fight for promotion.

The Chairboys never gave up, and that trait could well see them playing in League One next season if they can also muster the required luck that every side at the top of the table needs.

As for Southend, if they fail to make automatic promotion, Phil Brown will certainly look back on this draw as a huge turning point.

They dominated proceedings and had some glorious chances but a mixture of poor finishing and sloppy defending saw them take home a point and not three.

They will need to show more if they are to join Wycombe in the automatic promotion places.
