The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By Jamie Holt

MICHAEL Turner admits he’s glad to be home after heading to London to help Fulham avoid the drop.

Turner, born in Lewisham, has played for Charlton, Leyton Orient and Brentford in his career and joins his fourth capital club until the end of the season.

The Cottagers are placed precariously above the relegation zone, but the 31-year-old has vowed to help their cause after signing on loan from Norwich.

“It’s been going on for just over a week now, and as soon as I heard of their interest I wanted to come here straight away,” said Turner.

“I’ve been away from London for a number of years. Getting back home is sometimes difficult but I’m pleased to be back in the capital to play my football.

“I believe I can add some experience to the team. There are some young players here and I’m sure they can lean on the more experienced players like myself.

“The Championship is a tough league, as Fulham have found out this year. It can be unforgiving and I want to have a big influence.

“We’ll be looking to get a few wins to pull ourselves clear, and if that is the case, hopefully we can finish in a fairly good position.”
