The Football League Paper - - GRAHAM WESTLEY -

ONE of the most contentious aspects of modern day football involves man-marking at setplays. Who can honestly say they understand what is allowable and what will be punished?

Seriously, what exactly are the laws on what you can do and what you can’t do in a tight penalty area situation?

I am not begging a question about what players can normally ‘get away with’. I am asking for total clarity on what is allowed in the rules and what isn’t allowed.

What can a striker do to block or affect a goalkeeper? At what point is a held shirt an infringement?

The law-makers need to help refs by educating us all, including fans, on the dos and don’ts. It needs to be clarified.
