POOLS SEEKING MOORE GOALS
HARTLEPOOL boss Ronnie Moore admits he is mystified by his strike-force’s failure to score goals this season.
With Scott Fenwick ruled out with an ankle injury, Moore will be relying on Marlon Harewood, Marvin Morgan and Ryan Bird up front for the next fortnight.
And the 62-year-old has called on his strikers to step up and fulfil their potential.
“We look at Harewood and Morgan and you’d think – the size of them – they would have an understanding, but it hasn’t worked,” he said.
“Morgan with Bird doesn’t seem to work, we’ve not got that natural scorer without Scotty and he could play with any of them.
“Getting a combination out of the big ones is hard.
“When I went to Plymouth to watch Morgan play for their reserves and he scored, he was fantastic.
“He really put himself about and we had to dive in and get him. I was made up – on the phone all the way home to the missus I was made up, I said ‘I’ve got a striker who can score’.
“But right now, for whatever reason, he isn’t. He needs to produce what he is capable of doing.
“It’s important that one of them starts finding the net.”
