YOUNG FRIENDSHIP FROM SAINTS HELPS OWLS RECRUIT
MATT Young may be focused on impressing for Carlisle while on loan from Sheffield Wednesday, but the right-back has still found time to help his parent club sign Lloyd Isgrove.
Winger Isgrove has joined the Owls on loan from Southampton until the end of the season after signing a two-year contract extension with the Saints.
The 22-year-old has previously been on loan at League One Peterborough, but admitted it was Young who convinced him to make the temporary move to Hillsborough from the Premier League side.
“Matt was at Southampton for a couple of years with me,” explained Isgrove. “I went on holiday with him last summer so I know him pretty well.
“I spoke to Matt before making my decision, asking him what some of the lads and staff are like and he said they are really good bunch.
“I went out on loan to Peterborough United last season when they were involved in a play-off push, and that was a good experi- ence for me.
“But the Championship is a higher level so I think it will be a lot more physical and a good test for me.
“I’m expecting it to be a lot different to U21s football and quicker than League One.”
