Born: Liver­pool 1976 (Age 38) 1994-1997 Made his de­but for Wrex­ham as a 17- year-old and helped the Welsh club to the FA Cup quar­ter-fi­nals in 1997.The Dragons lost to Ch­ester-field but his form brought a £1m move to Birm­ing­ham in March 97. 1997-2004 Es­tab­lished him­self as a firm fans’ favourite at St An­drew’s un­der first Trevor Fran­cis and then Steve Bruce. Played in the League Cup fi­nal against Liver­pool as the Blues lost on penal­ties. City were knocked out of the play-offs at the semi-fi­nal stage three years run­ning be­fore fi­nally earn­ing pro­mo­tion in 2002.Spent two years in the Pre­mier be­fore leav­ing, hav­ing scored 42 goals in 293 ap­pear­ances. 2004-2010 Hughes joined fel­low Pre­mier League side Charl­ton, scor­ing five times in 47 games. Joined Cham­pi­onship club Hull af­ter Charl­ton’s rel­e­ga­tion in 2007 and played a key role in help­ing the Tigers into the Pre­mier League for the first time, start­ing in the play-off fi­nal win over Bris­tol City. Af­ter strug­gling to get game time, he dropped down the leagues. 2010-present Had spells at Bur­ton, Grimsby and Ice­landic side IVB be­fore join­ing Ac­cring­ton in 2011.He played 22 times and scored three goals for Stan-ley in League Two and then played for Scarborough Ath­letic, help­ing them to the North­ern Coun­ties East League ti­tle. Ap­pointed as­sis-tant in the sum­mer be­fore joint- step­ping up as joint-manager in Novem­ber.
