Born: Liverpool 1976 (Age 38) 1994-1997 Made his debut for Wrexham as a 17- year-old and helped the Welsh club to the FA Cup quarter-finals in 1997.The Dragons lost to Chester-field but his form brought a £1m move to Birmingham in March 97. 1997-2004 Established himself as a firm fans’ favourite at St Andrew’s under first Trevor Francis and then Steve Bruce. Played in the League Cup final against Liverpool as the Blues lost on penalties. City were knocked out of the play-offs at the semi-final stage three years running before finally earning promotion in 2002.Spent two years in the Premier before leaving, having scored 42 goals in 293 appearances. 2004-2010 Hughes joined fellow Premier League side Charlton, scoring five times in 47 games. Joined Championship club Hull after Charlton’s relegation in 2007 and played a key role in helping the Tigers into the Premier League for the first time, starting in the play-off final win over Bristol City. After struggling to get game time, he dropped down the leagues. 2010-present Had spells at Burton, Grimsby and Icelandic side IVB before joining Accrington in 2011.He played 22 times and scored three goals for Stan-ley in League Two and then played for Scarborough Athletic, helping them to the Northern Counties East League title. Appointed assis-tant in the summer before joint- stepping up as joint-manager in November.
