The Football League Paper - - INSIDE - By Joshua Richards

AN ALMIGHTY scrap to claim a League One play-off spot may be the polar opposite of the glamour of beating Chelsea, but Bradford defender Rory McArdle is relishing the fight.

While the Bantams’ place in history is secure thanks to that stunning FA Cup fourthround triumph at Stamford Bridge, their league campaign has not been so serene, falling into the bottom half in recent weeks.

McArdle, 27, said: “There are already some teams in the Championship who won’t be going up or down.

“There will be fixtures involving teams who have already got the beach towels out and are just playing out the season. That’s not the case with our league.

“With us, you’re playing against people who are either battling to get promoted from the division or they are fighting for their lives to avoid dropping out of it.

“People will talk about the result we got at Chelsea for years, but we want to keep going and there’s no reason why we can’t have a strong finish.”
