BRENTFORD boss Mark Warburton says he cannot understand the “insane” criticism being levelled at striker Andre Gray by some fans.

Gray, a £500,000 signing fr om Conference champions Luton last summer, scored his 16th goal of the season in Monday’s draw with Nottingham Forest.

And Warburton said: “If someone is criticising a pla yer that’s come up fr om Conference f ootball and scored 16 g oals, does he deserve criticism? I think that’s insane.

“From w hen we f irst saw him to where he is now chalk and cheese. He’s learning everything – be it discipline , nutrition, gym work, etc. He’s learning lots and did g ood stuff at Luton. He’s adapted r eally w ell. F or him to receive abuse, I’m staggered.”
