The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

A VITAL win for Boro but also one that laid their fatal flaw bare.

Whilst the likes of Bournemouth and Watford are characterised by their ruthlessness in front of goal, Boro simply cannot hand out a hiding.

In the Premier League, that’s not such a big deal. Liverpool scored for fun last season but were overhauled by Man City’s misers.

In the Championship, goals are the golden currency and what will worry Boro is that if the top two goes begging, one of Watford, Norwich or Bournemouth will be waiting in the play-offs.

Yes, their defence is the best in the division, but can they outscore one of that lot over two legs? It will be a big ask.

As for Rotherham, their season does not hinge on away days at Boro. They always lacked the class to test a side of this calibre.

A win at Fulham next week would surely keep them up and, bearing in mind that the Millers have scored lots, it would be richly deserved.
