BENTLEY MOTORS TO RECORD
SOUTHEND stopper Daniel Bentley has admitted it’s ‘a real honour’ to have earned a place in the club’s history books.
The 21-year-old made it a club record 11 home clean sheets in a row in Tuesday’s 2-0 win against Newport County.
He’s beaten the previous record run put together by Mervyn Cawston in 1981.
Bentley, who has not let in a goal at Roots Hall since October, said:“I was not aware of the record until recently so to be mentioned alongside someone like Mervyn, who has been a family friend for a long time, is fantastic. It is humbling and a real honour.”
