The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP - By Jamie Holt

NEIL LENNON is already dreaming about what inform hitman Adam Le Fondre could achieve as a permanent Bolton Wanderers player.

The 28-year-old marksman arrived on loan from Championship rivals Cardiff City in January and hit the ground running in front of goal, including a double in the Trotters’ 2-0 win over Millwall last month.

Following that display, Le Fondre revealed his immediate future was uncertain and admitted Lennon had shown some interest in tying him down for next season.

“If you score goals, the fans love you and I want to be loved,” he said.“I am a striker and strikers are meant to be heroes. That’s what I want to be.”

And now the Wanderers manager admits securing a permanent deal for the former Reading striker could prove to be a wise move.

“God knows how many he’d have if he had been with us from the start of the season,” said Lennon.“But having said that, I think he can get better.

“If he is with us next season – which may or may not happen – then we will endeavour to make him better in general.”
