POINT APIECE PROVES TO BE FAIR RESULT

The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

THIS could tell the story of both sides’ seasons.

Solid, organised, difficult to beat, but ultimately short of Premier League quality.

Ipswich will be far happier with the point and their resolute perform- ance that only surrendered a single shot on target to a powerful Wolves strike force. Centre-backs Tommy Smith and Christophe Berra vied with each other for man of the match while respective top marksmen Benik Afobe and Daryl Murphy were limited to one chance apiece. Richard Stearman’s own goal flat- tened a vibrant Molineux crowd, feeding off the pace of Dominic Iorfa and Nouha Dicko.

Mick McCarthy’s side now have an almost decisive edge on their rivals in the play-off chase but don’t under value what Kenny Jackett has achieved in challenging for a second successive promotion. They are the side with the ability to get the fans on the edge of their seats – disappointingly they didn’t quite manage it here.
