SMITHIES HAPPY AT QPR MOVE
ALEX Smithies insists he will thrive on the pressure of playing at QPR after the former Huddersfield keeper was drafted in as cover for in-demand Rob Green.
England international Green has been linked with a return to West Ham so the R’s have moved swiftly to sign 25-year-old Smithies – who made 274 appearances for the Terriers after coming through the Yorkshire club’s youth system.
“This was a big decision but the timing was right for my career. QPR is the ideal opportunity for me,” he said.
“Being at a club that was recently in the Premier League, there is going to be a lot of expectation and I think I will thrive off that.”
