City girls are handed World Cup All-Star ac­co­lade

MANCH­ESTER City trio Karen Bard­s­ley, Lucy Bronze and Steph Houghton have been named in a World Cup All-Star squad by Fifa’s Tech­ni­cal Study Group.

Eng­land fin­ished third in Canada, beat­ing Ger­many in a play-off to end the tour­na­ment on a high, and are rep­re­sented by three play­ers in the All-Star squad of 23.

Since re­turn­ing home City have won all seven matches they have played, while Bard­s­ley has signed a new two-year con­tract.
