INJURIES PILE UP AS REDS STUMBLE
GOALKEEPER Libby Stout has cursed Liverpool’s rotten luck after defender Becky Easton broke her arm in last weekend’s defeat to Manchester City and looks set to miss the end of season run-in.
Reds boss Matt Beard has used the full depth of his squad this year, with influential midfielder Fara Willliams as well as exciting winger Asisat Oshoala among those who have been unavailable through injury at times this term.
Such disruption has undoubtedly had an effect on Liverpool’s form, with the back-to-back champions languishing in sixth place in the WSL 1 table going into the weekend.
Easton can now be added to that list of players unavailable and Stout admits it has been a cause of great frustration at the Select Security Stadium this term.
“It’s a blow, because we’ve had a lot of injuries this year,” said the American.
“But we have to adapt and we have players capable of coming in and doing a good job.
“We will miss her. She’s been a brilliant and consistent performer for us this season and she is a dedicated performer, her experience is vital for us.
“She’s been at training all week with a hard cast on, but it’s difficult to put a timescale on her return just now.
“It was a clean break to the radius, which is probably the best thing you can hope for when you break your arm, but she’s in good spirits.”
