CITY ACE: I’M READY FOR STEADY EDDIE ROLE
EDDIE Nolan is happy to keep contributing in York City’s midfield after he was deployed in an unfamiliar role last weekend.
The 27-year-old made his full debut for the Minstermen in their 3-0 victory over Newport County, featuring in a holding midfield role.
More used to lining up at full-back, Nolan admits he was out of his comfort zone but the former Scunthorpe man is content to pitch in wherever manager Russ Wilcox decides to use him.
“I’ve usually been used as a full-back in the past,” he said.“I’ve never been at a club that plays with wingbacks, apart from on a couple of occasions, but I don't mind playing there.
“I’ve filled in as a midfielder a few times during my career but not on a regular basis. I’m happy to play there as well, though.”
York began the weekend 17th in the table and Nolan is eager to help them improve upon that sooner rather than later.
“We’re very solid at the back and we showed we are capable of scoring at Newport,” he added.
