SHREWSBURY’S Australian midfielder James Wesolowski faces a long period on the sidelines after damaging his anterior cruciate ligament during last Saturday’s victory over Barnsley.

The 28-year-old has been blighted by injuries this year having already suffered knee trouble in January.

Shrewsbury physio Chris Skitt expects Wesolowski to make a full recovery.

“We’ve been to see the surgeon today and he said he’s been horrendously unlucky – it’s effectively snapped the ligament,” said Skitt.“I’ve gone through the facts and figures and they say once you’ve had your ACL repaired, there’s no more risk of it going again.”
