MILLWALL chief executive Andy Ambler thinks the Lions held onto former boss Ian Holloway for too long.

Holloway, who guided both Blackpool and Crystal Palace to promotion to the Premier League, saved the Lions from relegation in 2014 but could not help repeat the trick and was replaced by Neil Harris – but the Den hero couldn’t guide them to safety.

Ambler said: “Ian saved us the year before. He convinced us to bring in nine players in January. But ultimately it was not the right thing to do.

“He might say he was burned out after Palace. He probably could have done with another season out.”
