The Football League Paper - - WOMEN'S FOOTBALL WEEKLY -

IT’S not just the players who have been living out their dreams since returning from Canada.

With the public keen to learn even more about their new heroes, they’ve been splashed all over our screens.

Mark Sampson himself has ticked off a big goal on his bucket list – appearing on cult Saturday morning show Soccer AM!

And his appearance was capped by making sure he fired in his penalty at the end of the show. Sampson joked: “When I took the job I spoke to Cath (FA press officer Catherine Stewart) and said the one thing I do want to do, media wise, is Soccer AM!

“She made it clear a minimum of semi-final would get that. So once we got to the semi- final I was able to switch off because I’d achieved my objective!

“If I’m honest, from a playing point of view, the penalty was probably the most important day of my life – certainly of my playing career.

“I kept my phone on but it was too late for transfer deadline day so that killed me a bit.”
