CHAMPIONS IS THE KEY FOR KATE
LIVERPOOL manager Matt Beard is hopeful Kate Longhurst’s season is not over with the striker set to be out for up to six weeks with ankle ligament damage.
The 26-year-old picked up the injury in training and is set to miss the final two WSL 1 fixtures of the season, as well as the forth- coming Continental Tyres Cup semi-final and Champions League last 32 clash with Brescia.
But Beard hopes the Reds can advance in Europe to prolong their season and ensure Longhurst gets the chance to return.
“This is another injury blow as Kate has been a key player for us this season with her versatility proving crucial,” said Beard.
“This seems to sum our season up with regards to injuries, but hopefully we can qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League and Kate’s season is not over yet.”
