MIDWEEK WOES FOR WESTLEY
NEW Peterborough boss Graham Westley says his side’s midweek struggles are at the root of their lowly current status in League One.
Posh’s 3-2 defeat by inform Bury this week meant they have lost 12 of their last 15 Tuesday night games.
And Westley admits preparations will need to improve following this weekend’s clash with Millwall.
“We need to learn to recover, because I didn’t feel our energy levels were where they were at the weekend, ”Westley said.
“There’s a more aggressive attitude we can adopt to have the belief to win.”
Since the start of last season, Posh have won just two Tuesday night games – one against Crawley Town in the League Cup in August and one away at Sheffield United in March.
But despite their sluggish start, Westley believes he can turn things around.
“There’s lots of areas where we can get better and I can make them much better just by introducing some simple procedures, which is where encouragement comes from,” he added.
“I want us on top of games, playing on the front foot from the off. I don’t want us reacting to adversity. We need to be much more positive with our football.”
