The Football League Paper - - CHAMPIONSHIP -

BRIGHTON manager Chris Hughton wants the FA to adopt a more flexible disciplinary system after Jamie Murphy’s three-match ban was upheld.

Murphy was shown a red card for his challenge on Bolton’s Neil Danns last week, though replays suggest he slipped before making accidental contact.

Hughton said:“It feels incredibly harsh that he gets three games for it.

“There was an opportunity to have a look at it, to overturn it, and it’s one that I think they’ve got wrong.

“There have to be circumstances where it’s very grey. At that stage, where it’s difficult to make a decision, I think you have to overturn it.”
