The Football League Paper - - WOMEN'S FOOTBALL WEEKLY -

LILY AGG – The Millwall midfielder chooses her favourite XI, made up from players she has played with in her football career.

GOALKEEPERI Sarah Quantrill – Millwall

I was at Arsenal with Sarah as well and her shot-stopping was just unreal. She is quiet off the pitch and very humble – not characteristics you really associate with a goalkeeper and perhaps that has held her back a little bit. It’s certainly not down to lack of ability.

Alex Scott – Arsenal

Alex is an extremely good player, she always has been. She’s 30 now but still will be an important part of the England and Arsenal teams for a long time to come. Her game has everything.

CENTRE-BACKI Ciara Grant – Retired

Ciara won it all at Arsenal. She was extremely tough to play against, even in training. She was never the quickest, but always read the game well – that was her outstanding quality.

CENTRE-BACKI Kylie Davies – Reading

She is an out-and-out defender who wears her heart on her sleeve. I think she lives to tackle, she always puts herself about. She was at Millwall last year and has slotted right in at Reading this year, I’m pleased to see her get promoted.

LEFT-BACKI Frankie Strugnell – Millwall

Technically brilliant with a wand of a left foot. She gets up and down the pitch, offering a great outlet on the wing, while at back, in one-on-one situations, she is hard to beat.

CENTRALI MIDFIELDER Jordan Nobbs – Arsenal

Different class. Jordan doesn’t stop running, she will cover as much ground as anyone over the course of a game. She wasn’t in the last England squad because I think she has been suffering a bit with her hamstring, but she’ll soon be back in for sure – she’s too good not to be.

CENTRALI MIDFIELDER Bianca Bragg – Reading

I loved playing with Bianca. She is always in the right place at the right time to pop up with a goal. She is one of those annoying players who is always around you, gives you no time on the ball and will look to get her foot in.

Kim Little – Seattle Reign Everyone knows all about Kim. She is technically brilliant. I remember training with her at Arsenal and thought she was just unreal. It’s a shame she is playing in America rather than over here, because she would be a star player in the Women’s Super League.

LEFT MIDFIELD Kirsty Linnett – Birmingham City

I came through the Academy with Kirsty and on her day I think she is a really top player. She has been so unlucky with injuries, she has had two anterior cruciate ligament injuries, but come back from both and is still playing extremely well.

STRIKER Nikita Parris – Manchester City

I played with Nikita at England U17 and U19 levels. I’ve always rated her. She works extremely hard and is always capable of popping up with a goal. She is a great finisher.

STRIKER Danielle Carter – Arsenal

Dan works hard and has bags of technical ability. She is quick, strong, she has everything. She is one of those strikers you would hate to have to defend against and it was brilliant to see her hit a hat-trick on her England debut.
